HELPFUL TIP:

Emotional wounds will steer a character's behavior, corrupt his worldview, and cause negative traits to form. To understand exactly how this occurs, please read our tutorial for the Wound Thesaurus.

NOTE: We realize that sometimes a wound we profile may have personal meaning, stirring up the past for some of our readers. It is not our intent to create emotional turmoil. Please know that we research each wounding topic carefully to treat it with the utmost respect.
NOTES:
When it comes to common wounds, getting dumped is at the top of the list—so much so that it's a right of passage. A part of growing up. Being rejected by someone one loves is painful enough, but sometimes the method can be particularly traumatizing: being broken up with via text message or proxy, getting dumped in favour of someone else, being left at the altar, or someone's lover simply not returning anymore calls and texts. Despite the universality of being dumped, it's always a painful experience that can often be a wounding one.
