DESCRIPTION:
Hackers are have a deep understanding of computer programming and use it to gain access and possibly compromise different types of devices (smartphones, laptops, tablets), digital platforms (websites, service providers, apps), or remote servers and networks. Some hackers are ethical and use their skills for penetration testing, which helps businesses strengthen their security and overcome technical issues. They may work for businesses and corporations, work for government agencies, or serve on a task force that tracks fraud, corruption, or criminal activities like human trafficking and child pornography. Many write open-source software to be helpful, prove their prowess, and to give back to the community. Unethical hackers use their computer skills for nefarious reasons, either to create mischief, enter secured sites to scrape personal data, bring down networks or systems to attach malware that will deposit viruses or espionage. The object is usually to profit from these activities through blackmail or selling stolen personal information.
