HELPFUL TIP:

Settings should always be chosen with care. Consider the emotion you want your viewpoint character to feel and how setting choices, weather elements, and symbolism might build a specific mood in the scene, create tension and conflict, or even raise the stakes.

A reception desk for check in, manned by friendly, uniformed employees with name tags
Multiple sitting areas where tourists wait for pick-ups or hang out to use the free wi-fi
An events desk for planning excursions (posters of exciting local excursions and locations. pamphlets, tourists waiting in line to book tours)
Long, winding tiled walkways through well-kept green areas between buildings
Standard hotel-like rooms of varying degrees of furnishings, some with balconies and a ocean view, and some without

Bartenders, groundskeepers, maids, and handymen (with radios) maintaining the resort and attending to guest requests
