CHOOSE MY PLAN

HELPFUL TIP:

Settings should always be chosen with care. Consider the emotion you want your viewpoint character to feel and how setting choices, weather elements, and symbolism might build a specific mood in the scene, create tension and conflict, or even raise the stakes.
SIGHTS:
Tile or patterned linoleum flooring
Floors dotted with clumps of dirt, onion skin fragments, or dried spills
Stainless steel, black, or white appliances
A rack of copper or metal pots and pans dangling overhead
Appliances and dishware tucked away in cupboards
A flowery ceramic jar with cooking implements poking out of it (wooden spoons, spatulas, whisks, flippers)
A banged-up wooden block that holds kitchen knives and shears
Brown-spotted bananas and apples in a fruit bowl
A revolving spice rack
Steam wafting from a perking coffeemaker with mugs waiting close by
A shiny black-handled kettle on the stove
Wooden chairs tucked around a scarred, well-used table
Wilting flowers in a vase on the table surrounded by orange pollen dust
Herb pots sitting near the sink, soaking up light from the window
A hanging calendar marked up with appointments, events, school holidays, and special reminders
Matching salt and pepper shakers
A small shelf with knickknacks, pictures, and homemade clay items created by one's children
A ceramic cookie jar or set of canisters for flour, sugar, and coffee
A wet teabag left out on a spoon
Dusty window ledges
