HELPFUL TIP:

Settings should always be chosen with care. Consider the emotion you want your viewpoint character to feel and how setting choices, weather elements, and symbolism might build a specific mood in the scene, create tension and conflict, or even raise the stakes.
SIGHTS:
Wide open skies
Clouds, sunlight, or planes flying overhead trailing smoke plumes
Rolling fog sliding over the water below
A river, creek, ocean, or crevasse with trees, roads, railway tracks, businesses, factories, or homes on either side
Bumper to bumper cars
Red tail lights flashing as brakes are tapped
A narrow pedestrian and cyclist walkway
Concrete pillars with capstones or spire tops
Storm drains and grates
Paving lines and signs for traffic
Bird nests spilling out of cracks and gaps, trailing bits of twigs and grass
Smears and streaks of white bird poop on the concrete
Barriers separating car traffic from foot traffic
Pavers
Steel support beams, struts, pins, wires, cables, and chains
Rust marks staining the concrete
Graffiti drawings
Car breakdowns that cause delays and lane changes
Trash and tossed-out cigarette butts
A toll booth
