HELPFUL TIP:

Settings should always be chosen with care. Consider the emotion you want your viewpoint character to feel and how setting choices, weather elements, and symbolism might build a specific mood in the scene, create tension and conflict, or even raise the stakes.
SIGHTS:
Narrow carpeted aisles
Flight attendants greeting passengers and assisting with directions
A first class or business class section (roomier reclining seats, special blankets and pillows, media centers, menus and beverages served in glassware by attentive flight members)
A curtain dividing the first class from the economy class
Rows of fabric seats
White overhead compartments
Armrests with controls to change channels and adjust volume
Seat belts
Windows with shades
Air and light controls overhead along with a call button for the flight attendants
People blocking the aisle as they shove bags into overhead compartments
An emergency exit door
Fold-down trays
In-flight magazines
Slots in the seat backs containing safety manuals and barf bags
A television screen set into the seat back (some with touch screen capability, others with controls in the armrests)
An old newspaper left behind from a previous passenger
Passengers getting settled (twisting in their seats to talk to others, bouncing toddlers or babies on their laps, eating purchased food, adjusting cheap foam pillows with recyclable covers, shoving purses or bags into the foot cubbyhole)
Passengers entertaining themselves (playing cards, typing on laptops, reading a book, listening to music, playing games on handheld devices, flipping through magazines)
A drink cart (loaded with plastic cups, coffee, pop, water, tea, a coffee carafe, single serving alcoholic beverages, napkins, stirring sticks, sugar and cream, wrapped cookie or pretzel snacks, pricy alcoholic beverages and food options that are not included in the airfare price)
