CHOOSE MY PLAN

HELPFUL TIP:

To understand why your character is driven toward a certain goal, get to know their positive and negative traits, as well as any significant emotional wounds that might be motivating them. Then you can explore the various kinds of conflict that could block them as they move toward their goal.
NOTES:
It's natural for us to want certain people to be proud of us. Could be a parent, brother or sister, a coach, teacher, or anyone else we look up to. A character striving for this goal could choose any of a number of ways to make someone proud, a few of which are outlined below.

FORMS THIS MIGHT TAKE:
By doing well in school
Through athletic prowess, beauty, or some other standard
By winning a contest or competition
By getting into a certain college
By landing a dream job
By succeeding in one's career
By making a lot of money
By succeeding in an area where few do well
Through perfection
Through one's character and moral fortitude
By following in that person's footsteps
By being the person they want one to be

HUMAN NEED DRIVING THE GOAL (INNER MOTIVATION):
There are five basic human needs that, when missing from a character's life, could motivate them to pursue this goal. The following needs are all possibilities, but only one of them should be the primary driver for any given character. For more information on the relationship between human needs and outer motivations, please see this Character Motivation tutorial.

Self-Actualization: If a character is motivated by doing what's right, and honoring that person by making them proud seems the best way to do that, they could be driven toward this goal.
Esteem and Recognition: Many characters choose this goal because they lack and desperately desire the respect of the admired person, and the best way to get it is by living up to that person's standard.
Love and Belonging: A character feels disconnected from and wants to be accepted by someone they respect, they may choose this goal as a way of making that happen.
