HELPFUL TIP:

Conflict is your story’s secret sauce, supplying tension, friction, and complications to a character’s journey. It comes in a million different forms, so identify the obstacles and problems that will hit your character the hardest by using the Character Builder to uncover their primary insecurities, fears , and desires. Don’t forget to include everyday conflict scenarios that will frustrate them and keep the pressure high.
CATEGORY:
Dangers and threats, increased pressure and ticking clocks, loss of control

NOTES:
War is one of the most disastrous and destructive conflict scenarios, with ripples that spread far and wide. A character whose country is invaded will encounter all kinds of challenges whether they stay or try to flee. People actively involved in the fighting will face even more immediate dangers. War impacts many vital areas of need, making it a versatile conflict with lots of options.

MINOR COMPLICATIONS:
Arguing with friends and family who don't agree with the character about the political situation
Escalating gas and grocery prices
Being confined to a certain area; not being able to travel
Increased bureaucracy for the most basic things (to travel, purchase certain items, etc.)
Products that used to be readily available becoming scarce
Raising children in an environment where things have changed for the worse
Having to hide unpopular beliefs for fear of retribution
Being separated from loved ones outside the war zone
Having to put on a positive front for others
The character having to leave their home to seek safety
Disagreements with family members about whether to fight or leave
Inconveniences caused by sharing space with others (in a group shelter, when housing refugees, being housed as a refugee, etc.)
Struggling to make ends meet financially
