HELPFUL TIP:

Conflict is your story’s secret sauce, supplying tension, friction, and complications to a character’s journey. It comes in a million different forms, so identify the obstacles and problems that will hit your character the hardest by using the Character Builder to uncover their primary insecurities, fears , and desires. Don’t forget to include everyday conflict scenarios that will frustrate them and keep the pressure high.

Being next in line to take over a company when the owner dies
A life-or-death emergency arising where someone has to step up and take charge
Participating in a group project that no one else wants to lead
Being bullied into taking a position that no one else wants
Having to lead a military company behind enemy lines
Taking charge of a resistance group because no one else will
Having to take charge during a medical disaster
Being assigned as a project leader at work
Leading a sports team, because if no one takes charge, it will be disbanded
Being the only one qualified to lead in a certain area
Being indebted and being promised a monetary reward for leading and succeeding

The character struggling to lead, resulting in people losing faith in him

Personality differences making leadership difficult
People resisting the character's leadership for unfair reasons (because of age, gender, race, etc.)
Apathy or fear of failure causing the character to do as little as possible while leading
