HELPFUL TIP:

Conflict is your story’s secret sauce, supplying tension, friction, and complications to a character’s journey. It comes in a million different forms, so identify the obstacles and problems that will hit your character the hardest by using the Character Builder to uncover their primary insecurities, fears , and desires. Don’t forget to include everyday conflict scenarios that will frustrate them and keep the pressure high.

EXAMPLES:
Technological advances making the character's career obsolete
A border town being threatened by a neighboring nation seeking to expand its territory
Living close to a growing or worsening threat, such as an active volcano or nuclear reactor
Corporations buying up land and transforming it to suit their purposes
The character's children or grandchildren not wanting to continue a long-term family business
Financial debt resulting in the loss of family property
Human settlements encroaching on land owned by indigenous groups
Being displaced by conquerors or landowners
Popular culture changing and clashing with the character's personal ideals or beliefs
Government overreach stealing its citizens' freedom and autonomy
Rural living becoming increasingly difficult (because of threats from marauders, a natural disaster destroying their ability to be autonomous, climate change factors, a recession, etc.)

MINOR COMPLICATIONS:
Disruptions to the character's routine
Environmental changes (such as increased noise, being surrounded by people, etc.)
Having to change to adapt
Increased costs due to price hikes or the need to financially support others
Having less privacy
Having to share resources with others
New rules or regulations being enacted that restrict the character in some way
The character being forced to learn something new (a language, technology, new methods, etc.) to stay employed, keep what they have, or provide for their family 
Dealing with an increased military presence 
Living with fewer resources and creature comforts
The character having to hide their true allegiances
Arguments with family members over what to do next or how to respond to the threat
Having to talk hot-headed loved ones out of impulsive responses that will cause further harm
